On September 19th local time, Wang Yi, a member of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and Director of the Central Foreign Affairs Office, jointly chaired the 18th round of strategic security consultations between China and Russia with the Secretary of the Russian Federation Security Council, Patrushchev, in Moscow. The two sides exchanged in-depth views on a wide range of topics related to deepening strategic cooperation between the two countries, strengthened coordination, and enhanced mutual trust. Wang Yi said that China Russia relations have withstood the test of international changes and have continued to develop in a healthy and stable manner. The connotation of strategic cooperation between the two countries has been continuously enriched, and the quality of practical cooperation has been continuously improved. As permanent members of the United Nations Security Council and responsible major powers, China and Russia work closely together on the international stage to defend true multilateralism, oppose all acts of hegemonic power, and promote the development of the global governance system towards a more fair and reasonable direction. Wang Yi stated that the China Russia Strategic Security Consultation Mechanism, as an important component of the comprehensive strategic cooperation partnership between the two countries in the new era, reflects the depth of political mutual trust and the breadth of strategic cooperation between China and Russia. Since the establishment of the mechanism, both sides have maintained close communication and positive interaction, effectively safeguarding common interests, and contributing wisdom to global strategic stability and resolving regional hotspot issues. Both sides firmly support each other on issues related to each other's core interests, demonstrating the inherent meaning of a comprehensive strategic partnership. We are willing to work with the Russian side to follow the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, further unleash the effectiveness of the mechanism, and make greater contributions to maintaining national security and promoting world peace and stability. Patrushchev stated that since the beginning of this year, under the strategic guidance of the two heads of state, Russia China relations have developed steadily and practical cooperation has been promoted in an orderly manner. Both sides always respect and support each other. Faced with the rapid changes in the international security situation and frequent challenges of conflicts, Russia and China are not affected or interfered by external influences. They adhere to independence and autonomy, strengthen strategic cooperation, and demonstrate the unique value of comprehensive strategic cooperation partners. The Russian side firmly supports China's legitimate stance on issues related to Taiwan, Xinjiang, Tibet, and Hong Kong, and opposes Western interference in China's internal affairs. Both sides agree to hold timely consultations on strategic stability between China and Russia, and strengthen cooperation in law enforcement security, non-proliferation, and global governance of emerging technologies. Both sides will continue to strengthen cooperation under multilateral frameworks such as the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and the BRICS Mechanism. (New News Agency)
