On July 4th local time, the 410 officers and soldiers of China's 21st batch of peacekeeping forces in Lebanon were awarded the United Nations "Peace Medal" by the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (Lebanon) to recognize their outstanding contributions to peace and stability in the southern Lebanon region during their mission period. More than 300 guests attended the ceremony, including the Commander of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon, Lazaro, Chinese Ambassador to Lebanon, Qian Minjian, representatives of the Lebanese government army, heads of various departments of the Force, and peacekeeping personnel from various contributing countries. The "Peace Medal" is a special medal established by the United Nations to recognize individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the cause of human peace. It is the highest honor awarded to peacekeeping personnel by the United Nations. At the award ceremony, the Commander of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon, Lhasaro, fully recognized the outstanding contributions made by the 21st batch of Chinese troops to the peace cause in Lebanon, and highly praised China's important role in maintaining world peace for a long time. Since its deployment to the mission area in August last year, the 21st batch of Chinese troops to Lebanon have cleared and cleared over 8400 square meters of minefields, safely cleared over 1400 landmines, completed over 100 construction tasks with high standards, and received over 3000 visits from United Nations personnel and local residents.
