China's peacekeeping forces in Lebanon have passed the 2023 United Nations defense capability assessment

2023-04-03

The 21st batch of Chinese peacekeeping troops to Lebanon has recently passed the 2023 United Nations defense capability assessment, and all assessment items have met the standards set by the United Nations. This is the first time that the Force has undergone such an assessment since its deployment to the mission area last year. On March 30th and 31st, the headquarters of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) dispatched an assessment team to the Chinese multifunctional engineering unit and construction engineering unit camp in southern Lebanon to assess the command and control, early warning and intelligence, environment and health, and alert work of the Chinese peacekeeping force. The evaluation team stated that the various defense facilities of the Chinese peacekeeping force meet the standards and specifications, and the security and defense measures in the barracks are scientific and reasonable. The members of the evaluation team unanimously recognized that the Chinese peacekeeping force has passed the 2023 annual defense capability evaluation. It is understood that the defense capability assessment is an important means for the United Nations to test the defense capability of peacekeeping forces, and also provides a key reference for the funding budget of UNIFIL's defense capability building. It is usually organized once a year. (Liao Xinshe)
