Chawushiolu said at a press conference that his visit is aimed at improving bilateral relations, and the foreign ministries of the two countries are working closely to arrange for the leaders of the two sides to meet. After former Egyptian President Morsi stepped down in 2013, relations between Egypt and Türkiye deteriorated, and the two countries subsequently downgraded their diplomatic relations. Türkiye and Egypt will start consultations with high-level diplomats in 2021.
