Qin Gang Attends the G20 Foreign Ministers' Meeting

2023-03-03

On March 2 local time, Foreign Minister Qin Gang attended the G20 Foreign Ministers' Meeting in New Delhi. Qin Gang said that in the face of the current volatile international situation and emerging global challenges, the G20 should shoulder its responsibilities, reflect its cooperation and make contributions to promoting global development and prosperity. We should practice true multilateralism, adhere to the principle of equal dialogue and consensus, and not engage in power politics or even camp confrontation. We should promote the healthy development of globalization, oppose unilateralism, protectionism and decoupling, and promote more inclusive, inclusive and resilient global development. Qin Gang put forward three suggestions. First, strengthen macroeconomic policy coordination and maintain food and energy security. Multilateral financial institutions and commercial creditors should actively participate in the debt disposal of developing countries. The second is to improve global economic governance, complete the 16th round of the IMF share inspection as scheduled, and carry out the World Bank equity review. China supports the AU's accession to the G20, which should make a decision as soon as possible. Third, strengthen international development cooperation. We will support the United Nations Summit on Sustainable Development Goals, address the challenges of climate change, and implement the "Kunming Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework" and the Bali Summit consensus on preventing illegal cross-border transfer of wastes. Qin Gang stressed that global development and prosperity cannot be separated from a peaceful and stable international environment. China has put forward a global security initiative and issued a position document on the political settlement of the Ukrainian crisis. It will always stand on the side of peace, actively promote peace and promote negotiations, and is willing to play a constructive role. Qin Gang introduced the decision of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China to promote Chinese path to modernization, emphasizing that Chinese path to modernization is based on China's practice and highly compatible with the world trend. It is a modernization that follows the path of peaceful development and harmonious coexistence between man and nature, and will provide new opportunities for China to cooperate with other countries in the world. China will continue to actively participate in the agenda of the G20 and make greater contributions to promoting world peace and development and building a community with a shared future for mankind. The meeting held in-depth discussions on such topics as multilateralism, food and energy security, development cooperation and counter-terrorism. All parties generally expressed concern about the current international situation, and believed that global governance needed to be improved urgently, sustainable development lacked momentum, and strengthening multilateralism was more important than ever. The G20 should play a key and special role. All parties should show political will, seek maximum consensus, take practical actions to promote inclusive cooperation and enhance economic resilience, and work together to address global challenges. During the meeting, Qin Gang also met with the foreign ministers of India and other countries. (Xinhua News Agency)
