As the rotating chair of the BRICs countries, China successfully hosted the 12th BRICs health ministers' video conference on the 10th. The meeting agreed to launch the work related to the BRICs early warning system for the prevention of large-scale infectious diseases, and adopted the declaration of the 12th BRICs health ministers' meeting in principle. At the meeting, representatives from BRICs countries had in-depth exchanges on topics such as the prevention and control of the COVID-19, the construction of health systems, and digital health. Ma Xiaowei, director of the National Health Commission, reviewed the progress made since the first BRICs health ministers' meeting was held in Beijing in 2011, saying that the Chinese government adheres to the people first and life first, adheres to scientific and accurate prevention and control and dynamic clearing, and does its best to coordinate epidemic prevention and control and economic development. Ma Xiaowei said that China has made a positive contribution to global anti epidemic cooperation by providing anti epidemic materials and new coronavirus vaccine, sending medical expert groups and other practical actions. So far, China has provided more than 2.2 billion doses of new coronavirus vaccine to more than 120 countries and international organizations. China calls on BRICs countries to unite and cooperate to fight the epidemic and jointly promote universal health coverage.
