Virtual currency is not a pyramid scheme "fig leaf"

□ commentary on the rule of law □ Ma Shujuan A total of more than 60000 member accounts have been developed, with 72 layers of hierarchical relationships, involving more than 100 million yuan... Recently, the Shanghai Municipal Public Security Bureau held a press conference to disclose the first case of online pyramid selling crime using virtual currency in Shanghai. In recent years, with the rapid development of Internet technology, blockchain, virtual currency, meta universe and other concepts appear from time to time. Some criminals also follow the tuyere and rub the hot spots when engaging in illegal and criminal acts. For example, in this case, criminals used the establishment of a global ecosystem as a gimmick, the promotion of blockchain technology and the provision of virtual currency value-added services as a name, and the promise of high static benefits and the development of offline double pay as a bait to attract users to continue to join. Due to the adoption of the model of pulling heads and hierarchical compensation, the projects involved developed at a snowball speed in a very short time. Compared with traditional crimes, this new type of network crimes packaged with fashionable concepts is not only more confusing and deceptive, but also faster, wider and more harmful to society. In view of the escalating and mutating new network crimes, China is also constantly improving the legal system and strengthening the crackdown. For example, in February this year, when revising the relevant judicial interpretation on the trial of criminal cases of illegal fund-raising, the Supreme People's court, in combination with the new judicial practice and new forms of crime, especially added new ways of illegally absorbing funds such as virtual currency trading, which provided a basis for punishing the crime of illegal fund-raising in the field of virtual currency according to law. Fashionable concepts such as virtual currency are not the "fig leaf" of online MLM, and emerging technologies such as blockchain are not a shield for crimes. The discovery of this case once again warns criminals that no matter how well the form of crime is packaged, it will be seen through one day. The comprehensive treatment of new network crimes requires the national level to keep pace with the times and improve relevant legal systems, the regulatory authorities to continuously strengthen the crackdown and continuously strengthen investor education, as well as the public to polish their eyes and not believe in "pie falling from the sky", so as to better prevent accidents and keep their own money bag.
