Read Chinese classics together and share Chinese cultural heritage. On April 21st, the opening ceremony of the "Shenzhen Hong Kong Joint Reading of Mountains and Seas" series of activities and the launch ceremony of the Shenzhen Hong Kong Youth Study Plan were held in the central city of Shenzhen Book City, amidst the childish voices of children reciting ancient poetry together in Shenzhen and Hong Kong. Guests from the cultural and publishing sectors in Hong Kong witnessed the launch of the event on site. Zhang Ling, member of the Standing Committee of the Municipal Party Committee and Minister of the Propaganda Department, attended the event. During last year's Shenzhen Reading Month, the two sides of Shenzhen and Hong Kong released a consensus on "Reading Together in Two Cities", deciding to carry out a series of activities in Shenzhen and Hong Kong to promote the joint reading of Chinese classics and the transmission of Chinese culture, and work together to create an important window for the modern civilization of the Chinese nation. On April 20th, the "Hong Kong Reading Week" and "2024 Hong Kong Reading+" series of activities kicked off, and the "Reading Together in Two Cities" in Shenzhen and Hong Kong became a major highlight. Shenzhen has also launched a series of intercity reading and exchange activities that reflect the concept of "reading together in two cities" before and after World Book Day on April 23 this year, continuing the story of the Bookish Bay Area. On the 21st, as the highlight of the "Shenzhen Hong Kong Joint Reading of Mountains and Seas" series of activities, the Shenzhen Hong Kong Youth Study Plan once again played the music of "Joint Reading of Two Cities". The research and learning activity was organized by Shenzhen Publishing Group and Datong Publishing Media Co., Ltd. On that day, 32 Hong Kong teenagers boarded the "Love Reading" mobile book bar to visit the Shenzhen Book City Central City, Qianniao Book Bar, and Tencent Binhai Building, and read the Shenzhen Humanities and Technology Space. Deng Bowen, a student from the Hong Kong Diocesan Women's College who participated in this study, shared her experience of reading in two cities: "Hong Kong and Shenzhen are connected, with similar cultures but different. Reading together in two cities has brought Shenzhen and Hong Kong closer, making us close in our thoughts." At the scene, the representative of Hong Kong students received the book "The Flowing Shenzhen River", which symbolizes that cultural exchange and integration between Shenzhen and Hong Kong are like a flowing river with a long history. At the launch ceremony, Hong Kong writer and professor of Chinese literature at Zhuhai College, Hong Kong, Xiao Guojian, shared the creative process of his new work "A Brief History of the Old South End Ancient City in Xin'an", bringing a journey of tracing the historical and cultural origins of the Shenzhen Hong Kong Macao region to the on-site audience. At the launch ceremony, Shenzhen Publishing Group and United Publishing (Group) Co., Ltd. also signed a strategic cooperation agreement, stating that they will further implement the Shenzhen Hong Kong "dual city reading" consensus and make new contributions to the joint construction of the Cultural Bay Area.
