On April 16th, the 135th Canton Fair welcomed the first Hong Kong and Macau lawyer in history to provide legal services for the fair - Kuang Yuqiu, a lawyer from the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area in Macau. The Guangzhou Bar Association has confirmed that Kuang Yuqiu is the first Hong Kong and Macau lawyer to provide legal services for the Canton Fair. Kuang Yuqiu is one of the first four Hong Kong and Macau lawyers in China to be allowed to practice in nine cities in the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area. On the morning of April 16th at around 6 o'clock, Kuang Yuqiu departed from Macau and took the D1888 train to Guangzhou from Zhuhai. When she arrived at the Canton Fair exhibition hall, she checked the time and it happened to be 9am. "The service counter where I am located receives more than 20 clients in a day, with the majority being foreign nationals," Kuang Yuqiu told Yangcheng Evening News reporters. "The questions they inquire about all involve commercial trade. Some clients come to inquire about how to handle commercial disputes that have already occurred, some clients come to inquire about legal issues related to investment enterprises, and some clients inquire about intellectual property protection." Kuang Yuqiu has provided professional answers to these questions. After a busy day, Kuang Yuqiu arrived at Guangzhou South Station at around 18:00 and took the G1301 train back to Zhuhai, then returned to Macau from Zhuhai. Lawyer Hu Qingye from the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area from Hong Kong will provide legal services to participating companies at the Canton Fair exhibition hall this Friday. He said that most Hong Kong lawyers have received training in common law and English, and many countries and regions in the world belong to common law countries and regions. This allows lawyers from the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area from Hong Kong to play a positive role in dealing with legal issues between mainland enterprises and overseas clients. "High level opening up has put forward higher requirements for foreign-related legal services. This year, the Guangzhou Lawyers Association set up a Guangzhou Lawyers' Service Group to serve the Canton Fair, with the number of members increasing by 60% over the previous session; and for the first time, six lawyers from the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area were employed to provide on-site legal advisory services, including four Hong Kong practicing lawyers and two Macao lawyers." Mount Huangshan, president of the Guangzhou Lawyers Association, said: "Hong Kong and Macao lawyers have rich experience in handling international legal affairs, and we particularly hope that lawyers from the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area can make good use of these international 'skills', and fully integrate into the high level opening up of the Greater Bay Area." Mao Yan, president of the Institute of Regional Opening up and Cooperation of Sun Yat sen University, said Hua believes that Hong Kong and Macao lawyers' "practice" at the Canton Fair for the first time, which shows the effectiveness of the integration and development of the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area and the achievements of the Canton Fair's high-level opening to the outside world, "is conducive to improving the level of the legal and international business environment of the Greater Bay Area".
