2024-04-12

200 years ago, how did Chen Liji go abroad and go global? How can the "Chinese Silver Needle" that drifts across the sea exert its power to treat diseases? Why can traditional Chinese medicine culture take root and sprout in Malaysia, where Western medicine is prevalent... On April 12th, the opening ceremony of the "Overseas Chinese and Traditional Chinese Medicine Culture Exhibition" was held at the Overseas Chinese Museum in Guangzhou. About 100 people attended the China Overseas Chinese History Museum, Guangdong Provincial United Front Work Department (Provincial Overseas Chinese Office), Provincial Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Provincial Overseas Chinese Federation, Guangzhou Municipal United Front Work Department, Municipal "Five Overseas Chinese" Units, Municipal Health Commission, Municipal Farmers and Workers Party, leaders of various district committee united front work departments, representatives of relevant provincial and municipal units, hospital institutions, schools, museum colleagues, overseas Chinese, returned overseas Chinese family members, and media representatives. The main person in charge of the United Front Work Department of the Guangzhou Municipal Party Committee pointed out in his speech that this exhibition vividly showcases the close connection between overseas Chinese and traditional Chinese medicine culture, and also allows more people to understand traditional Chinese medicine culture and the struggle and development process of overseas Chinese. In the future, we need to further build and make good use of the Guangzhou Overseas Chinese Museum as a platform, work together to create a new business card for traditional Chinese medicine to benefit overseas Chinese, inherit and continue the story of overseas Chinese and traditional Chinese medicine through practical actions, and work together to create articles for the "overseas Chinese" in the new era. The person in charge of the Chinese Overseas Chinese History Museum introduced that this exhibition is an active exploration of strengthening cooperation and exchange between the main and branch museums of the Chinese Overseas Chinese History Museum, and jointly creating high-quality exhibitions. Holding this exhibition will help the audience fully understand the unique advantages of traditional Chinese medicine in building a community of human health, encourage and guide overseas Chinese to inherit and develop the traditions of the overseas Chinese medicine industry, strengthen exchanges and cooperation between the Chinese and foreign traditional Chinese medicine communities, and increase confidence in creating a better world. Listening to the stories of the overseas dissemination of traditional Chinese medicine and witnessing the cultural inheritance of traditional Chinese medicine, Chen Liji, founded in the Ming Dynasty, is the longest running pharmaceutical factory in the world, and has been on the road of "going global" for more than 200 years. Chen Qiujuan, the director of the Lingnan Museum of Traditional Chinese Medicine, brought a series of "time-honored" brands under the Guangzhou Pharmaceutical Group's "going global" story: a hundred years ago, Chen Liji, relying on the geographical advantage of Guangzhou as a trading port, was the first to sell products to Southeast Asia, opening the door for traditional Chinese medicine to enter the world; Huagong Pan Yingshi's return to his hometown for entrepreneurship has opened the century old legend of "Pan Gaoshou" in the old shop of Nanyao; In 1925, Wang Laoji went to England to participate in the London Exhibition, becoming one of the earliest Chinese national brands to go global. "In the future, we will set up herbal tea museums in 56 cities around the world to use medicinal herbs to convey the feelings of family and country, and to continue the feelings of overseas Chinese." The French "Ham tea" made of Chinese medicine perilla leaves, the popular meat and bone tea in Singapore and Malaysia, and the Chinese modern Tonic Diet that goes abroad represent the "blessing and longevity feast"... These foods contain the concept of "Tonic Diet has the same origin", which affects the taste buds and homesickness of overseas Chinese in foreign countries. Yang Zhimin, member of the Party Committee and vice president of Guangdong Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, introduced that since 2015, she and Nanfang Daily have jointly launched the Chinese medicine diet health column "One meal a day" to let the public keep healthy through Tonic Diet diet; In 2017, "Daily Meal" was compiled into a book and sold in Hong Kong, mainland China, and the UK, introducing and promoting traditional Chinese medicine to the world's public
