Progress in research on high-speed quantum photocarrier RF communication

2024-04-09

On the 8th, it was learned from Shanxi University that Professor Jia Xiaojun's team has made progress in the research of high-speed quantum photocarrier RF communication, and the related research results have been published in the international journal "Physical Review Express". The quantum state light field is an important quantum resource for conducting research on quantum information technology. The continuous variable quantum state light field has the characteristics of deterministic generation, efficient detection, and high compatibility with classical communication systems, making it particularly suitable for high-speed quantum information tasks. Researchers introduce that quantum dense coding is an information transmission protocol that utilizes quantum entanglement to increase channel capacity to twice the upper limit of classical information theory. In quantum dense coding, the sender and receiver share a pair of entangled quantum bits and transmit information from two classical bits by sending information from one quantum bit. In theory, this encoding scheme can break through the limits of traditional channel capacity. The research team utilized the broadband entangled state optical field obtained by coupling two compressed optical beams, combined with classical optical RF communication technology and digital modulation technology, to greatly improve the communication rate of quantum dense coding, achieving high-speed quantum communication with a speed exceeding 20 megabits per second. In addition, the research team used image transmission as an example to visually demonstrate the advantages of this communication method by comparing the original images during the communication process with the received images after transmission. This research plan to some extent bridges the gap between quantum communication technology and practical applications, providing reference for achieving quantum enhanced communication systems in the real world and future construction of quantum metropolitan communication networks.
