Attention should be paid to the upcoming "144 hour visa free transit" at the Canton Fair

2024-04-07

The 135th Canton Fair will be held in Guangzhou from April 15th to May 5th. According to preliminary statistics, 93000 buyers from 215 countries and regions have registered to attend. To help inbound and outbound travelers fully understand the "144 hour visa free transit policy", Baiyun Border Inspection recently released a policy guide to answer questions and clarify hot issues. With the approval of the State Council, a 144 hour visa free transit policy for foreigners will be implemented within the administrative region of Guangdong Province. Foreigners from 54 countries who hold valid international travel documents (with a validity period of no less than 3 months) and have confirmed dates and seats within 144 hours to travel to a third country (region) through connecting passenger tickets (including air tickets, ship tickets, train tickets, bus tickets to Hong Kong and Macao, etc.) can choose to enter from any port of Guangzhou Baiyun, Shenzhen Bao'an, and Jieyang Chaoshan Airport Airport, and exit from any of the 32 ports approved by the State Council in Guangdong Province. The visa free transit area is Guangdong Province. How to apply for a 144 hour visa free transit when entering from Guangzhou Baiyun Airport? According to the introduction of Baiyun Border Inspection, one type of situation is: entering from Guangzhou Baiyun Airport and exiting from 32 passenger ports in Guangdong Province, including Baiyun Airport, to a third country (including Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan), one can stay within the administrative area of Guangdong Province for 6 days from the day of entry, without the need for a Chinese visa. If the applicant's itinerary includes a business jet and cannot issue a connecting ticket, they should present a written certificate issued by the business jet company stating the passenger's identity information, flight number, route itinerary, entry and exit date, and other information to complete the procedures. When entering the country, please apply for a temporary entry permit from the Baiyun Border Inspection Station with your valid international travel document and a 144 hour confirmed date and seat connecting ticket to a third country (region) (including air tickets, ship tickets, train tickets, etc.). After review and approval, you can enter the country temporarily without a visa. The visa free stay period is the 6th day from the day after your entry. Another type of situation is: if you enter from Guangzhou Baiyun Airport and then exit from 8 highway ports in Guangdong Province to Hong Kong and Macau, you can stay within the administrative area of Guangdong Province for 6 days from the day of entry, without applying for a Chinese visa. When entering the country, present your valid international travel document and a bus ticket to Hong Kong and Macao within 144 hours (or a ticket to other regions via Hong Kong and Macao, a hotel reservation or activity voucher in Hong Kong and Macao, etc. that can prove that the foreigner left for Hong Kong and Macao within 144 hours of entry) to apply for a temporary entry permit at the Baiyun Border Inspection Station. After review and approval, you can enter the country without a visa, and the visa free stay period is the 6th day from the day after your entry. Reminder: "The country or region of entry and the country or region of exit must be different." Baiyun Border Inspection reminds inbound and outbound passengers not to exceed the scope and time limit of their stay. If one exceeds the restricted stay area without permission or stays beyond the designated time limit without permission, they will bear corresponding legal responsibilities and be punished as illegal residence, which will affect their future application for entry and exit documents such as visas to China. In addition, accommodation registration must be processed in accordance with the law. For those staying in hotels, the hotel will handle their accommodation registration; Those who reside or stay in other accommodations outside of the hotel shall be provided by themselves within 24 hours after check-in
