From the Sea to the Stars - Chinese Art Exhibition to Appear in Venice, Italy

On April 2nd, two art exhibitions, "Xu Bing: Art Satellite - The First Animation Film Filmed in Space" and "Shuttle Time and Space - The Third Metaverse Art Annual Exhibition @ Venice @ Shanghai", which are about to make their grand appearances in Venice, Italy, were officially released at the Phoenix Center in Beijing. The works in the project "Xu Bing: Art Satellite - The First Animated Film Filmed in Space" utilize space technology to pursue a wish that has been passed down from ancient times to the present from a broader perspective, echoing the inscription carved on the Santa Veneranda Chapel that "brings light and peace to Italy and even the world.". The exhibition will present the world's first freeze frame animation "Lake on a Satellite" filmed in outer space on the rooftop of a church chapel. This 3 minute and 7 second short film was shot using a retired orbiting satellite, Ladybug-1. The Third Annual Metaverse Art Exhibition, "Shuttle through Time and Space," was initiated and directed by female curator Lu Rongzhi, with Angelo Maggie and Fu Sen serving as the overall curators. The aim is to use the infinite possibilities of new technologies applied to art production to ideally outline a digital Silk Road for cultural exchange between the East and the West. Italian Ambassador to China Ambrose, Professor and Artist Xu Bing from the Central Academy of Fine Arts, Senior Curator, Art Critic, and Professor Lu Rongzhi from Taipei Practice University, Professor Fei Jun from the Central Academy of Fine Arts, Artist Gao Xiaowu, Artist and Co Founder of Hong Kong Beauty Art Gao Yu, Curator of Phoenix Center and Vice President of Phoenix Art Xiao Ge, and other guests attended the press conference and delivered speeches. Some guests who were unable to attend, such as Angelo Maggie, Huang Bo, Zhao Xiaoli, etc., also gathered with the attendees through VCR. In 2024, coinciding with the 700th anniversary of Marco Polo's death, the two jointly released art projects will make a joint appearance in Venice, with themes related to time, space, and the universe, which is the best memory of Italian traveler Marco Polo. At the press conference, Mr. Ambos, the Italian Ambassador to China, mentioned in his speech that "Marco Polo is one of the most symbolic figures in the East West dialogue, and still demonstrates the depth of cultural exchange between Italy and China. He has played an important role in cultural exchange between China and Italy. 2024 is an extremely important year for Sino Italian cooperation and also the 700th anniversary of Marco Polo's death. The two major art projects that will soon be unveiled are a cross-border art event between China and Italy, as well as a commemoration of Marco Polo's 700 years of death, which will play an important role in cultural exchange between China and Italy." The theme of this year's metaverse art exhibition is "Through the Universe". Shuttle of Time and Space, co founded by curator and artist Lu Rongzhi, Venice University and Venice University of Architecture. At the press conference, Lu Rongzhi mentioned that this year is her 50th year in the art circle, and this exhibition in Venice will be the concluding work of her 50 year art career.
