The 2024 Guangdong Macao Nuclear Emergency Cooperation Conference was held in Macau on the 27th. The conference reviewed the cooperation and exchanges between Guangdong and Macao in nuclear emergency last year, affirmed the achievements of close contact and promotion of cooperation between Guangdong and Macao, reported on the progress of various special measures and work at all levels, reviewed the effectiveness of cooperation mechanisms, and exchanged views on the 2024 Guangdong Macao nuclear emergency cooperation. Zhang Shaokang, Director of the Guangdong Provincial Nuclear Emergency Committee and Deputy Governor of the Provincial People's Government, led a delegation to attend the meeting. Huang Shaoze, Director of the Security Department of the Macau Special Administrative Region, Liang Wenchang, Director of the Police Department, Huang Wenzhong, Director of the Macau Customs, and representatives from relevant departments in Macau attended the meeting. Huang Shaoze pointed out that nuclear safety is an important component of overall national security. Since the signing of the Guangdong Macao Cooperation Consensus on Emergency Response to Nuclear Accidents at Guangdong Nuclear Power Plants in 2018, the two sides have fully implemented various cooperation mechanisms and achieved the expected results in related work. Timely release of accurate information about nuclear safety in Guangdong, effectively eliminating doubts among the people of Macau about nuclear safety, and maintaining social stability. He hopes that both sides will continue to deepen cooperation, continuously enhance the awareness of nuclear risks and emergency response capabilities of relevant department personnel, in order to jointly maintain social stability in the Greater Bay Area and ensure the safety of residents. Zhang Shaokang stated that the cooperation between Guangdong and Macao has achieved significant results in information dissemination, technological exchange, and public opinion response, making important contributions to maintaining the economic and social stability of the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area.
