On the 13th, it was learned from the National Bureau of Disease Control and Prevention that monitoring data from the bureau showed that the overall myopia rate of children and adolescents in China in 2022 was 51.9%, a decrease of 0.7 percentage points compared to 2021 (52.6%), and a decrease of 1.7 percentage points compared to the results of the 2018 National Myopia Survey (53.6%). The overall myopia rate among children and adolescents in our country is showing a downward trend, and the trend of myopia becoming younger has been alleviated. Monitoring data also shows that in 2022, among students who are already nearsighted, 53.3%, 37.0%, and 9.7% are light, medium, and high myopia, respectively, with a decrease in the proportion of high myopia; The overall myopia rates in primary, middle, and high schools are 36.7%, 71.4%, and 81.2%, respectively. The interpretation of myopia prevention and control work released by the National Bureau of Disease Control and Prevention states that in the next step, the bureau will continue to promote myopia prevention and control work, continue to strengthen the monitoring and evaluation of myopia and its influencing factors in children and adolescents, promote suitable technologies for myopia prevention and control, increase professional training and the promotion and popularization of technical guidance, norms, and standards. Further strengthen the supervision of school hygiene and urge schools to strictly implement national standards. Carry out popular science propaganda, guide students, parents, and teachers to understand scientific eye use and eye care knowledge, and help children and adolescents develop good eye hygiene habits.
