Hong Kong SAR and Singapore sign a memorandum of understanding to strengthen exchanges in the family and judicial systems

On the 15th, the judicial authorities of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and Singapore signed a memorandum of understanding to strengthen judicial exchanges and promote the efficiency of the family justice system in their respective jurisdictions. In the presence of Chief Justice of the Court of Final Appeal of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Cheung Ju neng, and Chief Justice of Singapore, Ma Dae shun, Chief Justice of the Court of First Instance of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Judge of the Court of First Instance, Chu Peiying, and Judge of the High Court of Singapore and Chief Justice of the Court of Family Justice, Cheng Hui hui, signed a memorandum of understanding. Zhang Juneng expressed his pleasure in witnessing the signing of this memorandum of understanding, encouraging both jurisdictions to share their experiences and discuss family issues of common concern. I believe this memorandum of understanding will be beneficial for the development of the domestic and judicial systems in both regions. This memorandum of understanding provides a framework for both jurisdictions to promote the efficiency of their respective family justice systems through exchanging experiences and discussing common concerns. The scope includes effective management of family cases to improve processing efficiency, the use of technology, training of family judges and legal personnel, development of family law, family litigation procedural rules and practical instructions, and the role of mediation in achieving early settlement of family cases.
