The Hong Kong Office for Promoting Chinese Culture has launched multiple activities

The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government held a launch ceremony for the Office for Promoting Chinese Culture on the 14th, announcing multiple activities related to promoting Chinese culture, including the "General History of China Series" exhibition held annually at the Hong Kong Museum of History starting this year. The Office for Promoting Chinese Culture (referred to as the "Office for Promoting Chinese Culture") was proposed by the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Li Jiachao, in his 2023 Policy Address. It was established by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) of the SAR Government and is responsible for planning and organizing activities to promote Chinese culture and history. It is understood that the office will be established in April this year. At the launch ceremony, Liu Zhen, Acting Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, delivered a speech stating that the Promotion Office will use the rich resources related to Chinese culture and history within the Leisure and Cultural Services Department to plan diversified programs, promote Chinese culture, and strengthen the understanding and interest of all sectors of society in Chinese culture. At the same time, it will also collaborate with different stakeholders in society to promote Chinese culture, patriotic education, and enhance the national identity and cultural confidence of citizens. At the launching ceremony on the same day, the logo of the Promotion Office was also announced, which is a "Chinese" character composed of two elements, namely red columns and green arch of wooden architecture structure. Liu Zhen said that arch of wooden architecture is a unique structure of traditional Chinese architecture, which is a design element and marks the mission of the SAR government to promote Chinese culture. According to Wu Zhihe, the Chief Curator of the Hong Kong Museum of History, after the establishment of the Promotion Office, it will hold special exhibitions annually to introduce national development and achievements, as well as over 50 activities to promote Chinese culture and history. It is expected that 700000 people will participate in related online and offline activities every year. Wu Zhihe introduced that the Promotion Office will hold the "Chinese General History Series" exhibition year by year in chronological order at the Hong Kong Museum of History from this year until 2029. The first exhibition, "In the World - Henan Xia Shang Zhou Dynasty Civilization Exhibition," will be held with visitors from April to July this year; We will launch experiential training activities such as "Museum Collections and Lingnan Culture" and "Historical unboxing" workshops, allowing students to experience museum collections up close and understand the continuity of Hong Kong and Lingnan culture; Every year, there will also be "Chinese Culture Festival" and other events held.
