"Shanghai Spring" is about to kick off, with 66 performances riding the wind

As the first large-scale cultural festival exhibition in Shanghai this year, the 39th Shanghai Spring International Music Festival is scheduled to be held from March 22 to April 14. Centered around the theme of "Praising the New Era", this music festival will host 66 main performances, including 57 music performances and 9 dance performances, with 24 international exchange performances setting a record for the largest number of performances in history. In addition to gathering classic masterpieces and new works from new artists, the music festival will also hold 10 special themed activities, including 2 mid festival events, 3 collection activities, 5 educational achievement exhibitions, and a variety of performance activities, to start the "spring season" for art enthusiasts. Focusing on theme creation and interweaving the voices of the times, the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra and Shanghai Film Orchestra jointly performed Mr. Lv Qiming's "Ode to the Red Flag" at the 6th "Shanghai Spring" opening concert in 1965, achieving a generation of classics. Today, 59 years later, the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra will join forces with the Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra, as well as the Shanghai Opera House Choir, Shanghai Conservatory of Music Department Choir, and the China Welfare Association Youth Palace Little Partner Art Troupe Choir, marking the grand opening of this year's "Shanghai Spring". The opening performance will be held at the Shanghai Symphony Concert Hall on the evening of March 22, with the theme of "Pujiang Spring Tide - Embarking on a New Journey - Celebrating the 75th Anniversary of the Founding of the People's Republic of China". It will showcase classic works such as Lv Qiming's piano and band version of "Ode to the Red Flag", as well as outstanding works in special exhibitions organized by the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles and the China Phonetic Association in recent years, such as the orchestral "Bright Red Sun" and the symphony "New Era". "At the opening performance, there were only 150 members of the band, and there was also a super large choir that performed the New Era Symphony in the form of a symphonic choir with a total of hundreds of people, which not only reflected on history but also incorporated fresh blood into urban music." Gathering global resources and promoting international exchanges, this "Shanghai Spring" has further enhanced its internationalization. More than 20 international performances have come to Shanghai for exchange, accounting for over 30% of the total number of performances. The closing performance will be held on the evening of April 14th at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music. The Italian Como Opera House and Shanghai Conservatory of Music will jointly perform Rossini's opera "The Sevilla Barber", bringing the authentic classic opera to the stage of "Shanghai Spring" and helping to build the Asian performing arts capital.
