2024-03-13

The World Cargo Symposium organized by the International Air Transport Association was held for the first time in Hong Kong on the 12th. During his speech, the Financial Secretary of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, Chan Mo po, stated that Hong Kong International Airport handled approximately 4.3 million tons of cargo last year. In terms of airport passenger transportation, about 80% had recovered to pre pandemic levels by the end of last year, and it is believed that it can be fully restored within this year. Chen Maobo stated that after the third runway system of Hong Kong International Airport is fully operational by the end of the year, it will enhance the airport's carrying capacity. By 2035, it can serve 120 million passengers and handle over 10 million tons of goods annually. Chen Maobo also mentioned that the close cooperation between Hong Kong and other cities in the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area enables Hong Kong International Airport to play the role of a logistics gateway and primary air cargo hub in the Greater Bay Area. In addition, Hong Kong is also committed to expanding the aviation network of the "the Belt and Road" countries to promote trade in goods and strengthen personnel ties. It is reported that over 1900 industry insiders attended the seminar on that day. (Lai Xin She)
