Embrace cutting-edge technology and open up new tracks in life sciences

2024-03-12

"In the past, traditional Chinese medicine used to 'look, hear, ask, and feel', and study and judge in mind. Now information technology can transform diagnostic experience into objective and standardized TCM testing data." On March 6, Zhang Boli, a deputy to the National People's Congress and an academician of the CAE Member, told the Science and Technology Daily that these data can not only be used as reference information for TCM diagnosis and treatment, but also modern presentation and interpretation of TCM principles. The government work report proposes to strengthen the research and application of people's livelihood technologies such as health and elderly care, and to formulate future industrial development plans, opening up new tracks such as quantum technology and life sciences. During the Two Sessions, reporters from Science and Technology Daily interviewed several representative members to listen to their discussions on the disruptive changes brought by new quality productivity to the field of life and health. To lead with digitalization and enhance industrial breakthrough capabilities, one must first sharpen their tools in order to do a good job. "The concept of traditional Chinese medicine is not outdated, but the technological equipment is lagging behind. How to solve the problem of 'how to measure and control' the quality of traditional Chinese medicine?" Zhang Boli said, modern engineering equipment and technology make real-time monitoring possible, and previously difficult to monitor components and components can also be controlled online, thereby improving the quality and production efficiency of traditional Chinese medicine. Zhang Boli introduced that the joint research team of Haihe Laboratory of Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Zhejiang University has applied artificial intelligence technologies such as machine learning to model measurement data such as hyperspectral, Raman spectroscopy, and near-infrared spectroscopy, creating fast analysis methods. At the same time, breaking through the key technology of digital twins in traditional Chinese medicine pharmaceuticals, reflecting the process of traditional Chinese medicine pharmaceuticals in control models, and achieving precise regulation of pharmaceutical production. "To achieve high-quality development, enterprises must embrace new technologies and forge new productive forces through technology application and achievement transformation." Xu Haoyu, a National People's Congress representative and Chairman of Yangtze River Pharmaceutical Group, said that Yangtze River Pharmaceutical Group actively explores industrial intelligence. For example, the Longfengtang Traditional Chinese Medicine Industrial Park has pre installed intelligent elements in the design process, introducing hundreds of domestic and foreign intelligent devices and more than 10 sets of information systems, forming a complete modernization plan for the entire process. This project has also been established as the "New Model Application Project of Intelligent Factory for Traditional Chinese Medicine Process Manufacturing" by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. Wu Xiaoke, a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and the director of Heilongjiang Provincial Hospital, believes that the intelligent and precise upgrading achieved by high-end equipment and "digital" technology will drive comprehensive improvement and efficiency in disease prevention and control, health management, drug research and development, and provide a powerful tool for the high-quality development of related industries. With the support of new technologies and the expansion of new fields and tracks, "With genetic testing technology, we currently know that there are 300-600 pathogenic genes for deafness." Wang Qiuju, a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and a professor at the Sixth Medical Center of the General Hospital of the People's Liberation Army, said that the deafness genes that repeatedly appear in families are called the "ghost" genes of the family, and genetic technology has made the "ghost" appear. By combining big data and artificial intelligence analysis methods, and utilizing pre implantation genetic diagnosis technology, the first test tube baby with hereditary deafness blockade in China was born. Currently, implementing this technology through standardized processes makes it possible for individuals to avoid hearing loss diseases, and families will not carry the "ghost" gene. "As an otologist, I deeply feel that China's disease diagnosis and treatment capabilities have steadily improved over the past 20 years," said Wang Qiuju, referring to audiology, genetics, imaging, and data science
