133000 degrees! Guangdong's first distributed photovoltaic green power transaction completed

2024-03-12

On February 22nd, Yuelong Power Generation Company's rooftop distributed photovoltaic power generation project completed green power trading through a new method of "centralized bidding and post transaction", marking the first participation of distributed photovoltaic projects in the Southern Power Grid region in green power trading. According to reports, it is expected that the green electricity trading volume will exceed 5 billion kilowatt hours in 2024. From the first launch of green electricity trading in June 2021 to March 2024, Guangdong's green electricity trading volume will reach 9.3 billion kilowatt hours, which is equivalent to reducing carbon dioxide emissions by over 7.29 million tons and planting 14 million trees. Enterprises that have fully traded in green environmental value receive additional income and enter the Yuelong Power Generation Company factory located in Yunfu Luoding. Rows of photovoltaic panels continuously convert solar energy into electricity. The so-called "distributed" refers to photovoltaic systems installed in office buildings, warehouses, canteens, parking lots, and other areas that are tailored to local conditions to solve the electricity consumption problems of users nearby. "By increasing post transaction mechanisms and having clear national regulations endorsing its participation in green electricity trading, distributed photovoltaics can expand project revenue sources through green electricity trading, further promoting enterprises' transformation and upgrading towards green, low-carbon, and clean energy," said Liang Zhiyuan, the sales department head of the Marketing Department of Southern Power Grid Guangdong Power Grid Company. "As the first distributed new energy company in Guangdong Province to participate in green electricity trading, our company's January power generation corresponds to the full transaction of green environmental value, and we obtained an additional income of nearly 1300 yuan." said Li Weidong, Business Manager of Yuelong Power Generation Company. According to the new version of the Guangdong Province Renewable Energy Trading Rules (Trial) (released in November 2023, hereinafter referred to as the "New Rules"), it is pointed out that the power generation entities participating in green power trading will expand from onshore wind power and centralized photovoltaic to all wind power (including offshore wind power and decentralized wind power), photovoltaic (distributed photovoltaic and solar thermal power), conventional hydropower, biomass power generation, geothermal power generation, marine power generation and other renewable energy power generation projects, consistent with the scope of green certificate issuance. "The price of green electricity trading is composed of energy prices and environmental premiums. The participation of distributed photovoltaics in green electricity trading will intuitively enhance the value of their generated electricity." Liang Zhiyuan explained that due to different resource endowments in different regions, the price of green electricity trading also varies. Currently, the average green electricity price in Guangdong in 2024 is 0.464 yuan/kilowatt hour. Since the promulgation of the new regulations, a total of 68 renewable energy power generation enterprises and 57 electricity sales companies have completed contracts under the new regulations, with a transaction volume of 3.74 billion kilowatt hours. Compared with the national benchmark electricity price, renewable energy power generation enterprises have increased their income by 4.218 million yuan. In addition, to support the development of distributed photovoltaics, Southern Power Grid Guangdong Power Grid Company promotes convenient services such as remote push of photovoltaic bills and online viewing of photovoltaic energy calendars, simplifying contract process nodes and further enhancing the photovoltaic customer experience. On February 23, 2024, the first batch of priority electricity purchasing users (residents, agricultural users, etc.) in the Southern Power Grid region participated in green electricity bilateral negotiations and centralized competition transactions, breaking the tradition that only industrial and commercial users can participate in green electricity transactions, marking the beginning of Guangdong Province's green electricity trading boom
