The Yellow River is the mother river of the Chinese nation, nurturing distinctive regional cultures such as the Hehuang culture, Guanzhong culture, Sanjin culture, Xiaohan culture, Heluo culture, Yan Zhao culture, Qilu culture, etc. The ancient path of Xiaohan is like a "shoulder pole", carrying the culture of the eastern and western parts of the Yellow River Basin; Like a ribbon, it connects various ancient cultures along the Yellow River. The Xiaohan Ancient Road is a cultural road with rich connotations. The term "Xiaohan" was first seen in the "Strategies of the Warring States": "In the eastern part of Qin, there is food and a solid letter." "Food" refers to the mountains of Xiaoshan. The Qinling Mountains extend eastward to the Xiaoqinling Mountains, and further eastward to the main peak of Xiaoshan. Xiaoshan Mountain is connected to the Qinling and Huashan Mountains, with Mangshan Mountain to the east, Funiu Mountain Range to the south, and the Yellow River to the north. It is the main transportation artery in the Xiaohan area. "Han" refers to the Hangu Pass, named after its deep and perilous location in the valley. The Xiaohan Ancient Road is a transportation hub and a cultural corridor. For thousands of years from prehistoric to historical periods, this place has continuously demonstrated the splendid chapter of the Yellow River culture, and is also a node connecting the East and West of the Yellow River culture. Countless literati and scholars have left behind classic works on this cultural path: during the Warring States period, Laozi passed through the Hangu Pass and wrote the Taoist classic "Tao Te Ching"; The places written by the poetic sage Du Fu's "Three Officials" ("Xin'an Officials", "Shihao Officials", and "Tongguan Officials") are all on the ancient path of Xiaohan; In the Song Dynasty, Su Shi wrote for his younger brother Su Che the poem "He Zi Youmianchi Nostalgia", which left behind the allusion of "snow mud and red claws" on the Xiaohan Ancient Road. In fact, as early as the Yangshao Culture period, the Xiaohan Ancient Road was already a channel for the dissemination of Eastern and Western cultures, providing convenient transportation for the wave of prehistoric cultural integration. Archaeological evidence shows that the Miaodigou culture in the middle period of the Yangshao culture was influenced by the Xiaohan Ancient Road, affecting the upper, middle, and lower reaches of the Yangtze River, the Yellow River, and the Western Liao River basin; The northward spread of Liangzhu culture, the southward spread of Hongshan culture, and the westward spread of Dawenkou culture are all centered around the Xiaohan region. The Xiaohan Ancient Road, also known as the "Xiaohan Section of the Silk Road," is a necessary passage for the overland Silk Road. The Shihao Ancient Road, located in the middle section of the Xiaohan Ancient Road, is the only road heritage site among the 22 sites in China that are part of the World Cultural Heritage Site "Silk Road: The Road Network of Chang'an Tianshan Corridor". In the central area of the Xiaohan Ancient Road, there are multiple religious and cultural relics distributed. Hangu Pass is the birthplace of the Taoist cultural classic Tao Te Ching; Donghan Kongxiang Temple is one of the earliest surviving Buddhist temples in China; The relief sculpture of "Demon Subduing Transformation" preserved in the Hongqing Temple of Northern Wei is currently the largest of its kind in China; During the Sui Dynasty, Anguo Temple was the largest, well preserved, and standardized Zen temple in the Sanmenxia area; The Baolun Temple was built by the Tang Dynasty monk Daoxiu, and the Baolun Temple Pagoda (commonly known as the Toad Pagoda) is one of the four surviving ancient echoic buildings in China. These Buddhist temples, along with the Tao Te Ching, coexist on the ancient path of Xiaohan, demonstrating the dissemination, development, and continuation of Buddhist and Taoist cultures in the Xiaohan region. It is also an example of the rich cultural connotations of the ancient path of Xiaohan. The military artery that influenced the historical process of Xiaohan Ancient Road is still a military artery that influenced the historical process of China. Since the establishment of Hangu Pass in the Qin Dynasty, whether it was the joint resistance of the six Kanto states against Qin or the Qin state relying on Hangu Pass
