Establishing a workshop in Macau to study the construction of future communities in the Greater Bay Area

2024-02-28

The Macau Workshop on Innovative Application of AI Technology in the Future Community of the Greater Bay Area was launched on the 27th at the University of Science and Technology of Macau, with a focus on "Conceptual Construction of International Future Community Life Scenarios - Research on High Density Community Public Space for Caring for Vulnerable Groups in the Greater Bay Area". The workshop takes Guangzhou and Macau in the Greater Bay Area as the basic urban environmental background, and introduces AI and big data analysis technology. On the basis of using big data to identify the lifestyle and behavioral characteristics of elderly people in old communities of two cities, this study investigates the elderly friendly living scenarios in diverse public spaces of community centers, and constructs living spaces and scenes that can adapt to the typical old community environment and population needs of Guangzhou and Macau. The workshop is organized by the School of Humanities and Arts at the University of Macau, the School of Architecture at South China University of Technology, and the Jarengue Cultural and Art Foundation, with more than ten universities and cultural institutions in mainland China collaborating. During his speech, Zhang Zhiqing, Dean of the School of Humanities and Arts at the University of Macau, stated that Macau is a typical representative of ultra high density cities worldwide due to its scarce land resources and dense population. Urban construction and improvement of community living spaces are full of challenges. We look forward to the workshop's reflection, exploration, and discovery in this area, which will be beneficial for promoting the construction and development of cities in Macau and even the Greater Bay Area. On that day, teachers and students from 15 mainland universities conducted on-site research and exchanges on the node carriers of urban renewal in Macau. From March to June, students will utilize new AI technologies to develop a series of innovative, impactful, and implementable solutions. In December, the workshop results will be released to domestic and international audiences through exhibitions and forums. (Lai Xin She)
