Hong Kong Polytechnic University Electric Vehicle Research Center Launches

The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (HKUST) held a groundbreaking ceremony on the 26th for its recently established electric vehicle research center. The center is led by Chen Qingquan, an academician of the CAE Member, to establish an advanced electric vehicle research and development platform to meet the energy and technical challenges of modern electric vehicles. Chen Qingquan, Director of the Electric Vehicle Research Center and Outstanding Lecture Professor of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at the University of Science and Technology of China, stated on the same day that it is now a great opportunity to seize opportunities in electric vehicle research and education. The University of Science and Technology of China's Electric Vehicle Research Center has three major tasks, including cultivating talents, conducting cutting-edge research, and industrializing research results. Chen Qingquan introduced that the Li Da Electric Vehicle Research Center aims to cultivate innovative talents in electric vehicles for the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area and the world, actively cooperate with mainland and Hong Kong enterprises, and is committed to building an industry university research cooperation platform, focusing on cutting-edge research on electric vehicles and the integration and application of electric vehicles with the power grid and 5G networks. The center will promote the industrialization of scientific research achievements to achieve more efficient, safe, and reliable electric vehicle technology solutions. President Teng Jinguang of Polytechnic University stated at the launch ceremony that the university is committed to addressing the challenges faced by society through scientific research, and the establishment of the center will further promote the university's scientific research progress in this important field. The center will focus on cutting-edge research and development in the fields of electric vehicle technology, smart transportation systems, and energy management to improve energy efficiency and environmental benefits, and create new opportunities. At the launch ceremony, the Polytechnic University Electric Vehicle Research Center signed memorandums of cooperation with China Electric Power International Development Co., Ltd. and Wistron (Hong Kong) Automotive Co., Ltd. On that day, PolyU also held a forum with the theme of smart electric vehicles and carbon neutral energy, attended by about 350 people from the government, innovation, energy and academic circles, as well as teachers and students.
