On the 26th, the Hungarian parliament approved the proposal for Sweden's accession to the NATO protocol with 188 votes in favor and 6 votes against. That day was the opening day of the spring session of the Hungarian parliament. In the afternoon of that day, the Hungarian parliament voted on the proposal for Sweden's accession to the NATO protocol, with a total of 194 members of parliament participating in the vote. Hungarian Prime Minister Orban said in his opening speech at the meeting that Sweden's military cooperation with Hungary and Sweden's accession to NATO have strengthened Hungary's security. ?? After the proposal was approved by the Hungarian parliament, Hungarian President Shuyuk, who was elected on the same day, will sign and officially agree to Sweden's accession to NATO. After the escalation of the Ukraine crisis in February 2022, Sweden and Finland abandoned their long-standing military non alignment policy and simultaneously applied to join NATO in May of the same year. According to regulations, all NATO member states must unanimously agree to accept new members. Finland was officially approved to join NATO in April last year. After Türkiye approved Sweden's accession to NATO in January this year, only Hungary among NATO members has not yet approved Sweden's "accession" to the Treaty.
