Last year, the total consumption of tourists in Macau increased nearly threefold year-on-year

According to data from the Macao Special Administrative Region Government's Bureau of Statistics and Census on the 22nd, driven by a nearly four fold year-on-year increase in inbound passenger numbers, the total consumption of passengers (excluding the gambling industry) in 2023 has increased by nearly three times compared to 2022, reaching 71.25 billion Macau dollars (MOP), an increase of 11.2% compared to 2019. Among them, the total consumption of overnight travelers was 60.18 billion yuan and that of overnight travelers was 11.07 billion yuan, with a year-on-year increase of 3 times and 2.4 times, respectively. In addition, the per capita consumption of passengers in 2023 was 2525 yuan, an increase of 55.3% compared to 2019; Compared to 2022, it decreased by 20.8% year-on-year. According to the statistics of major tourist sources, the per capita consumption of tourists from mainland China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan has increased by 66.6%, 21.6%, and 55.5% respectively compared to 2019. According to data, the total passenger consumption in the fourth quarter of 2023 increased threefold year-on-year to 19.19 billion yuan, an increase of 18.1% compared to the same period in 2019. The consumption of RMB 16.39 billion for overnight travelers and RMB 2.79 billion for overnight travelers increased by three times and 2.9 times year-on-year, respectively.
