On the 2nd, it was learned from the Ministry of Finance that in order to further reduce the burden on college graduates from economically disadvantaged families and support the provision of employment services for college graduates in 2024, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Education, the People's Bank of China, and the State Administration of Financial Supervision jointly issued a notice requiring the implementation of interest free and principal deferred repayment for national student loans in 2024. The notice clearly states that loan students who graduated in 2024 and previous years will be exempt from the national student loan interest that should be repaid within 2024. Referring to the national student loan interest subsidy policy, the exempted interest will be borne by the central finance and local finance respectively. For loan students who graduate in 2024 and previous years, the principal of the national student aid loan that should be repaid within 2024 can be extended by one year upon independent application by the loan student. According to relevant regulations, the maximum term of the student aid loan shall not exceed 22 years, and no penalty or compound interest shall be charged for the extended loan.
