The Hong Kong SAR Government: Telling the International Community the Story of Human Rights in Hong Kong

The 45th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council Working Group on Human Rights Review unanimously approved the report on China's participation in the fourth round of human rights review. On the 27th, a spokesperson for the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government stated that Hong Kong will continue to safeguard human rights through security, promote human rights through development, and promote human rights through cooperation. We will tell the story of human rights in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region to the international community with reason, evidence, and strength. The Secretary for Administration of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Chen Guoji, completed his trip to Switzerland on the 27th and returned to Hong Kong. In addition to attending the Universal Periodic Review Working Group of the United Nations Human Rights Council, he has also met with representatives from different international and local organizations in recent days to strengthen communication and introduce the latest developments in various aspects of Hong Kong. A spokesperson for the Hong Kong SAR government stated that during this review, many countries fully affirmed China's unremitting efforts and historic achievements in promoting and protecting human rights. The SAR government has been fully cooperating with the state to participate in the deliberation process, actively responding to opinions and suggestions from various countries regarding the human rights situation in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, and strictly refuting the unreasonable and untrue statements of a few countries. The spokesperson said that with the solid support of the country, Hong Kong will continue to safeguard human rights through security, promote human rights through development, and promote human rights through cooperation, and will tell the story of human rights in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region to the international community with reason, evidence, and strength. The spokesperson reiterated that the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region firmly upholds national sovereignty, security, and development interests, and fully and accurately implements the "One Country, Two Systems" policy. The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government will effectively prevent, stop, and punish acts and activities that endanger national security in accordance with the law, while safeguarding the rights and freedoms of Hong Kong citizens in accordance with the law, and ensuring the stable and far-reaching implementation of the "One Country, Two Systems" practice.
