The estimated number of passengers sent from Guangdong is 127 million

2024-01-22

According to the 2024 Guangdong Spring Festival travel teleconference, the estimated passenger volume for this year's Spring Festival travel in the province is about 127 million, a year-on-year increase of 24.8%. Guangdong will increase investment in transportation capacity, optimize transportation connections, and create safe, smooth, and heartwarming Spring Festival transportation. The 2024 Spring Festival travel will start on January 26th and end on March 5th, for a total of 40 days. According to preliminary analysis, the 2024 Spring Festival travel rush will present three characteristics: firstly, the passenger (vehicle) flow shows signs of rapid recovery, and the public's willingness to travel is relatively strong. The second is that the transportation structure presents a "three increases and one decrease" trend: personalized travel methods such as private cars, ride hailing services, and intercity carpooling are becoming more and more common. The proportion of passenger traffic in civil aviation, railway, and waterway transportation has significantly increased, while the proportion of passenger traffic in road transportation may decrease to about 50%. Thirdly, the overlap of the Spring Festival travel passenger flow is not high, and there is no overlap between the pre holiday student flow and the Spring Festival travel return passenger flow. Most enterprises in the province have early holidays before the holiday, and some migrant workers return home early before the holiday. The post holiday Spring Festival travel time span is relatively large, and the student flow and return to work flow are relatively stable. It is expected that the total number of passengers sent during the 2024 Spring Festival travel in the province will be about 127 million, an increase of 24.8% compared to 2023. Among them, there were about 68 million people on the road, an increase of 18.85% year-on-year; Approximately 6 million people traveled by waterway, a year-on-year increase of 25%; About 45.1 million railway passengers, a year-on-year increase of 34.5%; Civil aviation has approximately 7.97 million passengers, a year-on-year increase of 27%. The total expected traffic volume of expressways in the province is about 275 million, a year-on-year increase of 6.59%. In the 2024 Spring Festival travel rush, the province is expected to invest 32000 operational buses with over 1.26 million passenger seats. Among them, there are over 23000 high-end buses and over 1.04 million passenger seats. The Hong Kong Zhuhai Macau Bridge shuttle bus program operates approximately 1300 daily trips to and from Hong Kong during the Spring Festival travel period. The province plans to invest 390 passenger ships and 79000 passenger seats in 96 waterway passenger routes. During the peak period of the Spring Festival travel rush, the Qiongzhou Strait plans to deploy over 270 voyages per day. The province plans to operate 1390.5 pairs of trains, an increase of 81.5 pairs and 6.2% year-on-year. The proportion of high-speed rail capacity investment has increased from 85.9% in 2023 to 87.6%. It is expected that there will be 58000 takeoff and landing flights at Baiyun Airport, a year-on-year increase of 23.6%; Shenzhen Airport had 49000 takeoff and landing flights, a year-on-year increase of 24%. This year, the Department of Transportation of Guangdong Province further strengthened departmental coordination, improved the mechanism for Spring Festival travel, actively strengthened coordination with neighboring provinces such as Hunan and Guangxi, strengthened cooperation with provincial public security, railway, civil aviation and other departments and key cities, and worked together to promote various work related to Spring Festival travel. The transportation department of Guangdong will adhere to the "daily analysis and judgment" of Spring Festival travel, comprehensively strengthen transportation capacity guarantee, transportation connection, transportation organization, and emergency drills. At the same time, we must strictly adhere to the bottom line of safety, deeply learn from the lessons of recent road transportation accidents, draw lessons from other situations, and organize all parties to strictly and meticulously ensure safety production guarantee, ensuring that no major safety accidents occur.
