In 2023, the per capita consumption expenditure of Guangdong residents was 34331 yuan, a year-on-year increase of 6.7%. Looking at urban and rural areas, the per capita consumption expenditure of urban residents was 39333 yuan, a year-on-year increase of 6.5%; The per capita consumption expenditure of rural residents was 22209 yuan, a year-on-year increase of 6.8%. According to consumption categories, all eight categories of consumer spending have achieved positive growth. Among them, the per capita expenditure on healthcare, transportation and communication, and education, culture, and entertainment among residents continued to grow in double digits in the first three quarters, with growth rates of 18.9%, 16.5%, and 10.7%, respectively; Clothing consumption expenditure, other goods and services consumption expenditure, residential consumption expenditure, daily necessities and services consumption expenditure, and food, tobacco and alcohol consumption expenditure increased by 9.5%, 9.2%, 5.3%, 3.5%, and 1.0%, respectively. In 2023, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) of Guangdong residents increased by 0.4% year-on-year, a decrease of 1.8 percentage points compared to 2022. The core CPI, excluding food and energy prices, increased by 0.8%, a decrease of 0.2 percentage points from 2022. From the monthly price trend, the month on month prices of CPI in 2023 have increased by 5, leveled by 1, and decreased by 6, with fluctuations ranging from -0.9% to 1.0%. The fluctuation range has slightly expanded compared to the previous year (-0.3% to 1.0%).
