2024-01-18

The 22nd Macau Urban Fringe Festival, hosted by the Cultural Bureau of the Macao Special Administrative Region Government, held its opening ceremony on the 17th. Multiple programs immediately entered various communities, implementing the concept of "the entire city stage, audiences everywhere, and artists for all". Liang Huimin, Director of the Cultural Bureau of the Special Administrative Region Government, delivered a speech, saying that this year's Fringe Festival gathered more than 100 artists, with the theme of "travel, drama, Xintiandi", to ignite artistic sparks in different corners of the city and launch a new year full of artistic and cultural forces. We hope that more citizens and cultural workers will join the arts industry to enhance the construction of Macau as the "City of Performing Arts". This year's Fringe Festival presents 17 exciting programs and a series of peripheral activities. The first program is an immersive performance called "25 Steps" that combines dance and interactive experiences. Viewers can explore the relationships between people through interactive experiences. The participatory exhibition "Renren Art Exhibition" will feature a large tent to provide a platform for showcasing creative works by citizens. In addition, "City with Visible Music" will be led by multiple local musicians to shuttle the audience through the outdoor square of Shiliupu in Macau, the Roman Square of Fisherman's Wharf in Macau, and the Broadway Food Street in Macau within one day, embarking on a cultural exploration journey; In the audio story photography exhibition "Here and Here", viewers can watch and listen to the moving stories behind their beloved pet's photography works together with their pets; The Round Table Conference on "Dancing in the Mood for Love: Interacting with Bodies Having Experienced Time" will invite artists from multiple regions to Australia for dialogue and exchange, sharing their artistic creation concepts and processes. The Macau Urban Fringe Festival was founded in 1999 and is one of the important cultural festivals in Macau. It is also a platform for exploring creativity and cultivating talents. (Lai Xin She)
