When diabetes is "targeted" at young people (you should also be careful of these diseases when you are young)

What's your first impression when it comes to diabetes? Need insulin injection? What diseases do elderly people get? In the public's impression, diabetes is a disease of middle and old age. However, nowadays, more and more young people, including some teenagers, have become diabetes patients. Why is diabetes quietly "staring" at young people? Let's listen to Song Lulu, Deputy Director of Endocrine Department of China-Japan Friendship Hospital. Not long ago, the screening age for diabetes was suggested to be advanced to 35 years old. Song Lulu's endocrinology department admitted Xiao Chang, a 25-year-old diabetes patient. "A year ago during his physical examination, Xiao Chang's fasting blood sugar was 7.5 millimoles per liter, slightly higher than the normal value. The fasting blood sugar of the normal population is generally 3.9-6.1 millimoles per liter, and he didn't take it to heart. Three months ago, he began to experience symptoms of frequent urination and thirst. Without intentionally controlling his weight, his weight decreased from 96 kilograms to 86 kilograms, which means he lost 20 pounds in three months." Song Lulu explained, The "more urine, more drink, more food and weight loss" are typical manifestations of diabetes. Xiao Chang realized that something was wrong and rushed to the hospital. An examination found that his fasting blood sugar exceeded 20 mmol/l, which was seriously beyond the normal value, and he needed to be hospitalized. Although there is no specific statistics, Song Lulu found that in recent years, more and more young faces have come to seek medical attention due to blood sugar issues. She introduced that elevated blood sugar is a slow process, and the human body has good regulatory ability. There are no obvious abnormal symptoms due to sudden increases in blood sugar, so people often do not notice that their blood sugar is problematic. Many young people, especially those who have just started working, often discover abnormal blood sugar levels during physical examinations. Song Lulu introduced that diabetes is a chronic metabolic disease characterized by hyperglycemia. It has the characteristics of no obvious symptoms, high incidence rate, hidden complications, and aggregation of multiple metabolic diseases. The World Health Organization classifies diabetes into four types: type 1 diabetes, type 2 diabetes, special type diabetes and diabetes during pregnancy. Among them, type 2 diabetes and type 1 diabetes are the main two types. "Type 1 diabetes patients are usually unable to secrete insulin themselves, which is mainly found in children and adolescents; type 2 diabetes is insulin resistance caused by the combined effect of environment and genetic background, as well as metabolic disorder syndrome of sugar, fat and protein due to relative insulin deficiency, which is mostly found in adults." Song Lulu introduced that research found that one of the following factors is the high-risk group of diabetes: 40 years old and above; Overweight or obesity, hypertension; Abnormal blood lipids and cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases; Sedentary population; Family history of diabetes; Have a history of pregnancy diabetes; Suffering from polycystic ovary syndrome, long-term treatment with antipsychotic drugs, etc. Song Lulu introduced that the Guidelines for the Prevention and Treatment of Type 2 diabetes in China (2020 Edition) issued by the diabetes Branch of the Chinese Medical Association showed that the prevalence of diabetes in China was still rising, and the prevalence of diabetes among people aged 18 and above in China reached 11.2% from 2015 to 2017.
