The reporter recently learned from a press conference of the Shanghai Museum that the East Hall of the Shanghai Museum, which took more than 6 years to build, will be fully opened in 2024. The Shangbo East Pavilion is a major cultural facility construction project in Shanghai during the 13th Five Year Plan period, located on Century Avenue in Pudong New Area. It is reported that the Shangbo East Museum is mainly positioned as a "world-class museum of ancient Chinese art", constructing the most complete display of the history of ancient Chinese art both domestically and internationally, supplemented by special exhibitions that reflect the characteristics of Jiangnan culture and Shanghai style culture, and launching a new interactive experience space. The total exhibition area of Shangbo East Hall is about 33600 square meters, with a total of 20 exhibition halls and interactive experience spaces, including 13 permanent exhibitions of cultural relics, 4 interactive experience spaces, and 3 special exhibition halls. Chu Xiaobo, the director of the Shanghai Museum, stated that considering professional requirements such as cultural relic protection requirements, cultural relic safety risks, cultural relic relocation pace, and venue operation coordination, after research and evaluation, the Shangbo East Museum will be gradually opened in three steps within 2024. Starting from February 2, 2024, the "Bronze Exhibition Hall" of Shangbo East Hall will be opened for trial, marking the beginning of the trilogy of annual opening of Shangbo East Hall. In the first and second special exhibition halls of the East Pavilion, the third exhibition of the "Why China" cultural relics and archaeology exhibition series, "Shining China - Sanxingdui Jinsha Ancient Shu Civilization Exhibition", will be launched. Chu Xiaobo revealed that the exhibition will be the largest and highest standard exhibition of archaeological relics unearthed from the ancient Shu civilization outside Sichuan Province to date. It is understood that by the end of June 2024, the Shangbo East Pavilion will open all exhibition halls and interactive experience spaces except for the "Chinese Calligraphy Museum", "Chinese Painting Museum", "Zhao Puchu Calligraphy Art Museum", and "Maritime Calligraphy and Painting Museum", with a reservation limit of about 20000 people per day. By the end of November, the last batch of exhibition halls such as the "Chinese Calligraphy Museum" and "Chinese Painting Museum" will be presented in a brand new appearance. At this point, the Shangbo East Pavilion will be fully opened. Journalists Ren Peng and Yan Weiqi from Lixin News Agency
