Why is Guangdong, a leading industrial zone in the country, refined?

2023-12-18

Recently, the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, a subsidiary of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, released a series of rankings in Shenzhen, including the 2023 Top 100 Industrial Zones in China, allowing the outside world to have a more intuitive understanding of the comprehensive strength of industrial strong zones in various provinces. The list shows that 21 districts in Guangdong have been selected as one of China's top 100 industrial districts, ranking first in the country alongside Jiangsu in terms of quantity. What better reflects Guangdong's leading advantage is that the Pearl River Delta has taken over the top 6 of the top 100 industrial zones. How can Guangdong, which dominates the list of China's top 100 industrial regions, develop such "hard work"? A key password is that Guangdong, especially the Pearl River Delta, has a strong manufacturing cluster and an active industrial economy. Upon closer examination of the list, it can be observed that the 21 industrial top 100 regions in Guangdong are relatively concentrated, all of which come from the Pearl River Delta and are mainly located in manufacturing cities such as Shenzhen, Foshan, and Guangzhou. According to the data released by various statistical bureaus, the reporter found that the GDP of these 21 districts accounted for more than 40% of the province's total GDP last year and the first three quarters of this year; Last year, the total output value of large-scale industries reached nearly 10 trillion yuan, accounting for over 50% of the province. Especially in recent years, Guangdong has become a prominent leader in the manufacturing industry, attracting investment, stabilizing industry, and seizing projects in various regions, competing for new industrial tracks, providing strong support for the establishment of manufacturing cities and industrial development zones. While seeing the highlights, some weaknesses have also been exposed. Compared to the strong industrial zones leading the country, the situation of Guangdong's "strong districts and weak counties" has also been confirmed on the list. The other two lists released simultaneously this time show that only one county in Guangdong is listed as one of the top 100 industrial counties in China, and three counties (cities) are listed as one of the top 100 innovative counties (cities) in China, far lower than provinces such as Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Fujian. In order to turn the shortcomings into "potential boards", Guangdong is now deeply implementing the "High quality Development Project of Hundred Counties, Thousand Towns, and Ten Thousand Villages", strengthening the industrial economy, and accelerating the leap of county-level economy. What are the highlights? Guangdong and Jiangsu's Top 100 Industrial Zones tied for the top 50, with Guangdong occupying 18 exclusive seats. What is Guangdong's "abundant production"? One of the answers is the strong industrial zone. Recently, at the County Industrial Economic Development Forum held in Shenzhen, Ao Li, Chief Engineer of China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, released the 2023 list of China's Top 100 Industrial Counties, China's Top 100 Innovation Counties, and China's Top 100 Industrial Zones. From the perspective of provincial distribution, in 2023, the top 100 industrial regions in China were spread across 17 provinces, with Guangdong and Jiangsu both holding 21 seats, tied for first place in the country, while Zhejiang ranked 17 and Shandong ranked 7. Ao Li introduced that the current development of county-level economy in China shows four major characteristics: a stable number of districts, a more three-dimensional industrial level, a deeper extension of scientific and technological innovation, and a more solid sense of gain for the people. A comprehensive examination of the list reveals that Guangdong not only leads the list of China's top 100 industrial regions in terms of quantity, but also generally ranks high in various regions, highlighting its strong comprehensive strength. Among the top 10 industrial districts, Guangdong ranks in the top 6, including Shenzhen Longgang, Guangzhou Huangpu, Foshan Shunde, Shenzhen Nanshan, Shenzhen Bao'an, and Foshan Nanhai. Among them, Longgang has been ranked first among the top 100 industrial districts for six consecutive years. Among the top 25 industrial zones, Guangdong accounts for 11, accounting for more than 40%, and is also the largest in the country, surpassing Jiangsu and Zhejiang in terms of quantity. Among the top 50, Guangdong accounts for 18, accounting for nearly 40% of the total, far ahead of the country and protruding
