Sleeping at this point is the most blood vessel friendly

2023-12-12

Recently, a study from the University of Oxford in the UK showed that adults have the lowest risk of cardiovascular disease when they fall asleep from 10 to 11 pm at night; After 12 o'clock, falling asleep has the highest risk of cardiovascular disease. The study analyzed data from 88026 residents of Biobank in the UK. We collected data on falling asleep and waking up for 7 days using a wrist device. The average follow-up was 5.7 years. Research has shown that there is a "U-shaped" relationship between falling asleep and the incidence of cardiovascular disease. The incidence of cardiovascular disease is 3.82/100 person years, 2.78/100 person years, 3.32/100 person years, and 4.29/100 person years, respectively, for falling asleep before 10pm, from 10pm to 11pm, from 11pm to 12pm, and after 12pm. The risk of cardiovascular disease is highest among those who sleep after 12 o'clock and lowest among those who fall asleep between 10 and 11 o'clock. After considering sleep duration and sleep patterns, studies have shown that compared to those who fall asleep between 10 and 11 pm, those who fall asleep after 12 pm have a 29% increased risk of cardiovascular disease, and those who fall asleep before 10 pm have a 25% increased risk. In addition, researchers also found that the relationship between falling asleep at night and cardiovascular disease is more significant in women. Short sleep duration and irregular sleep patterns also increase the risk of cardiovascular disease. Wen/Yang Jingang (Fuwai Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences) (Le Xin She)
