Flying cars, new energy storage, regenerative medicine... Guangdong's high-quality development ignites new engines

2023-12-12

Building intelligent electric flying vehicles and exploring the future urban low altitude field; Targeting new energy opportunities, layout energy storage research and development and manufacturing; Focusing on cutting-edge issues of life and health, innovating disease treatment methods... Recently, the "Guangdong Research Tour for the 45th Anniversary of Reform and Opening up" series of activities organized by the Information Office of the Guangdong Provincial People's Government entered Guangzhou and Huizhou. During the two-day research activity, the media interview team delved into the fields of transportation equipment manufacturing, consumer electronics and green energy storage, life sciences and health, focusing on the theme of high-quality development, exploring vivid local practices in developing intelligent manufacturing, accelerating green transformation, and overcoming human health problems. "Every 53 seconds, a car goes offline" intelligent manufacturing creates a new travel scene in the Greater Bay Area. In the final assembly workshop of GAC Aian New Energy Vehicles, mechanical arms are operating neatly, identifying and installing different vehicle models. Every year, two Guangqi Aian intelligent ecological factories can produce a total of 400000 new energy vehicles. Among them, the production rhythm of the five major process workshops of stamping, welding, painting, final assembly, and battery can reach one vehicle every 53 seconds. What supports this speed is the world's leading research and development, intelligent manufacturing, and industrial chain strength. Since 2017, GAC Aion has established a technology roadmap of "EV (pure electric)+ICV (intelligent connected network)", accelerated the independent industrialization of core components, and built the first domestic new energy pure electric exclusive factory. Sun Tao, a quality technician at GAC Aian, said that relying on precise programming, fully automated assembly, and traceable process data, the production pace has continuously accelerated. Continuously improving environmental benefits. It is reported that through energy-saving renovation, photovoltaic, energy storage and other means, GAC Aian Intelligent Ecological Factory has reduced carbon emissions by 55000 tons this year. The annual power generation of the factory's rooftop photovoltaic system is nearly 20 million KWh, which can meet up to 50% of the power consumption of a factory during the day. The ground is busy making cars, and there is no idle time in the air. Entering the Xiaopeng Huitian R&D Center, an electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft (eVTOL) capable of carrying two people, with a maximum designed flight speed of 130 kilometers per hour and a maximum flight altitude of 1000 meters, smoothly leaves the ground and rises into the air. In the future, it is expected to become an important means of transportation for low altitude flight in cities. In October this year, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and four other departments issued the "Development Outline for Green Aviation Manufacturing Industry (2023-2035)", which mentioned accelerating the application of innovative products such as eVTOL, integrating them into the comprehensive three-dimensional transportation network, and achieving pilot operation in 2025. "Electric flying cars have great prospects in emergency rescue, logistics transportation, sightseeing tourism, and short distance commuting," said Qiu Mingquan, General Manager of External Affairs at Xiaopeng Huitian. To this end, Xiaopeng Huitian focuses on building a research and development support team: among the company's team of over 800 people, nearly 85% are responsible for research and development and technology, with 92% coming from the aviation, automotive, and internet industries. "In the future, we will also focus on the travel needs of the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area, carry out research and development of long-range and high-speed flying vehicles, and achieve a flight radius of 200 kilometers and 300 kilometers from Guangzhou to reach the core cities of the Pearl River Delta or the eastern and western regions of Guangdong." Qiu Mingquan explained.
