"The integrated development of information technology is at a critical stage of explosive breakthroughs." You Xiaohu, an academician of the CAS Member and vice president of the Future Mobile Communication Forum, said that in addition to cross-border integration, new applications and new businesses have emerged, 5G is also horizontally integrated with new computing power, artificial intelligence and big data, industrial manufacturing networks, etc., forming a new trend of cross development, and accelerating information technology reform. Wu Hequan emphasized that major countries and international organizations around the world are strengthening the evolution of 5G Advanced (5G-A) and 6G research, strengthening technological layout and resource investment, and striving to build the first mover technological advantages for a new round of technological revolution and industrial transformation. The horizontal integration and cross development of information technology represented by 5G and other advanced technologies, although still facing challenges, has outlined many directions for efforts, among which terahertz technology and intelligent metasurface technology are particularly noteworthy. Yao Jianquan, an academician of the CAS Member and professor of Tianjin University, has long been engaged in the research of laser and nonlinear optical frequency conversion, terahertz science and technology. In his view, the continuous evolution of 5G towards 5G-A and 6G places higher demands on network bandwidth, transmission rate, and latency characteristics. With the emergence of more and more innovative high bandwidth applications, academic and industrial research and application of terahertz have also been put on the agenda. With the joint efforts of all parties in the domestic industrial chain, the research level of terahertz in China is gradually improving, and devices, devices, and systems are gradually being established. Yao Jianquan stated that although humans have not yet fully understood and applied the terahertz frequency band, with the development of research work, terahertz has moved from the laboratory to the application stage. 6G has shown broad prospects to the industry, such as huge capacity, huge connectivity, and widespread applications. However, to achieve the beautiful vision of 6G, in addition to the continuous evolution of traditional solutions, the industry needs to explore some revolutionary and disruptive technologies.
