Understanding China | Former Egyptian Prime Minister Isam Sharaf: Through cultural exchanges, we can achieve harmony but diversity and mutual understanding among the people

2023-12-03

On December 2nd, former Egyptian Prime Minister Isam Sharaf spoke at the "Understanding China" international conference in Guangzhou, stating that thousands of years ago, there were so many different cultures and civilizations along the ancient Silk Road, which were different but also communicated with each other. Therefore, it is time to explore the past, excavate the valuable virtues and principles of our ancestors, and use these treasures to shape our future. Emphasizing global challenges requires close cooperation among the global community, no longer distinguishing between the East and the West, the South or the North, but rather common cooperation. He said that when we discuss prosperity, without development, there will be no prosperity, without peace, there will be no development, without peace, there will be no mutual trust, without connectivity, there will be no mutual trust, so we must have these values at the same time. China can actually produce all these products through its various initiatives, including the "the Belt and Road" initiative, the Global Civilization Initiative, the Global Security Initiative and the Global Development Initiative. In fact, the the Belt and Road Initiative is to promote connectivity. The Global Civilization Initiative is also to promote connectivity and mutual trust. The Global Security Initiative is an environment for promoting peace and building peace, while the Global Development Initiative is about development. All these four core values are embodied in China's four major initiatives. Sharaf believes that in these initiatives proposed by China, they promote peace and development. When these initiatives are accepted by those advocating for peace and development, a path emerges that leads to a future of shared prosperity for everyone, the development of international relations based on dialogue, global governance based on rules, the establishment of new world technologies based on rules, and the realization of true multilateralism.
