The 28th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28), China Corner, opened on the 30th. The opening ceremony was held in the Blue Zone of Dubai World Expo City, United Arab Emirates. Chinese Minister of Ecology and Environment Huang Runqiu and Chinese Special Envoy for Climate Change, Xie Zhenhua, attended the ceremony. At the opening ceremony, Huang Runqiu stated that China adheres to green, low-carbon, and high-quality development, implements a national strategy to actively respond to climate change, makes a solemn commitment to carbon peak and carbon neutrality, and incorporates it into the overall layout of ecological civilization construction and economic and social development. China is willing to work with the international community to jointly promote the success of COP28, build a fair, reasonable, and win-win global climate governance system, and jointly build a clean and beautiful world. Xie Zhenhua said that as a responsible major developing country, China has always adhered to the strategic focus of climate action. China's economic and social development has embarked on a comprehensive green transformation track, with wind, solar, water, and biomass power generation installed capacity ranking first in the world. It has become a major supplier of wind and photovoltaic equipment and power batteries, promoting a significant reduction in the deployment cost of renewable energy globally and helping developing countries obtain clean, reliable, and affordable energy. He emphasized that the Dubai United Nations Climate Change Conference will complete the first global inventory under the Paris Agreement, assess the progress of the agreement's implementation and the overall gap in achieving its goals, which provides an opportunity for all parties to accelerate transformation, innovation, and strengthen cooperation. Xie Zhenhua pointed out that he hopes that the Chinese corner can share the best practices of China's green, low-carbon transformation and innovation, and jointly promote international cooperation in addressing climate change.
