Xinhua News Agency, Beijing, November 21 (Reporter Luo Xin) - The Beijing Grand Canal Museum (East Hall of the Capital Museum), located in the sub center of Beijing, has successfully passed the completion inspection and is expected to open to the public by the end of this year. On the 21st, Feng Hao, the head of the Collection Department of the Capital Museum, told reporters that four major types of exhibitions and about 6000 sets of cultural relics will gradually land on this "Canal Boat", with a daily reception capacity of 6000 people, further meeting the cultural and leisure needs of citizens. The design concept of the Beijing Grand Canal Museum (East Hall of the Capital Museum) project originates from the elements of boats, sails, and water in the ancient canal landscape. The total construction area is about 99700 square meters, including 62000 square meters above ground, 37700 square meters underground, and approximately 32000 square meters of exhibition space. It is one of the three major cultural buildings in the sub center of Beijing. The museum consists of two buildings: the main building and the audience sharing hall. The main building mainly reflects the traditional functions of the museum, consisting of functional areas such as the collection area, cultural relic protection area, and exhibition and display area; The audience sharing hall focuses on highlighting diversified museum service functions, meeting the needs of open exhibitions and more types of museum activities, and meeting the visiting needs of different audiences with a more flexible opening mode. Feng Hao introduced that the exhibition system of the Beijing Grand Canal Museum (East Hall of the Capital Museum) consists of four types of exhibitions: basic exhibition, thematic exhibition, open exhibition, and temporary exhibition. The basic display focuses on people, water, and the city, showcasing the development history and construction achievements of Beijing from the perspective of human geography; The special exhibition highlights the display of ancient capital culture, red culture, Beijing style culture, and innovative culture, promoting the cultural characteristics and long-standing traditions of Beijing; The open exhibition integrates humanities, leisure, and technology, including art and digital technology interactive experience exhibitions that reflect the themes of Beijing and the Grand Canal; The temporary exhibition is based on the "city", with a focus on interpreting the excellent traditional Chinese culture, serving the coordinated development of Beijing Tianjin Hebei, and collaborating to introduce excellent overseas exhibitions. It is understood that the exhibition of the Capital Museum will be centered around the "capital", while the exhibition of the East Museum will be centered around the "city". The two exhibitions complement each other from a historical and cultural perspective, interpreting the relationship between the "capital" and the "city", which is both a perfect match and unique.
