The cooperation of the two major logistics projects with the Hong Kong International Airport's third runway system, which is expected to be fully operational in 2024, will significantly enhance Hong Kong's ability to handle air cargo. Lin Shixiong introduced that DHL Central Asia Hub Center is currently DHL's largest infrastructure investment project in the Asia Pacific region. The third phase of expansion project has made the hub center larger and faster, with a total warehouse area increased by 50% compared to before the expansion, reaching 49500 square meters. The maximum hourly processing capacity can reach 125000 pieces, an increase of 70% compared to before the expansion. When the center is fully operational, the total annual cargo volume it can handle is 1.06 million tons, an increase of 50% compared to before the expansion. Lin Shixiong said that the third largest logistics warehouse in Hong Kong, the Guoluwan High end Logistics Center, began operating in October and is jointly developed and operated by Cainiao Network, China Airlines (Group) Co., Ltd., and Yuantong Express under Alibaba Group. When the center is fully operational with its highest design capacity, it is expected to bring an additional approximately 1.7 million tons of air cargo to Hong Kong International Airport annually.
