Exhibition of Fine Arts and Crafts from the Eight Min Regions at the China Art Museum

2023-11-15

On November 12th, the "Shouzheng Yahe - Arts and Crafts Master Exhibition" opened at the China Art Museum. Skilled craftsmen from the land of Fujian use knives as pens and wood and stone as materials to create innovative works that move people's hearts. The exhibition of Zheng Chunhui's work "Dreaming in the Old Stream" is one of the "Academic Invitation Series Exhibitions of the Chinese Art Museum", inviting 11 participants from the 7th Chinese Arts and Crafts Master Zhong Fujian - Wang Jingmin, Chen Mingliang, Lian Zihua, Lin Dong, Zheng Youlin, Zheng Chunhui, Huang Wenshou, Huang Baoqing, Huang Fuhua, Lai Litong, and Pan Jingshi. 50 pieces (sets) of works cover five representative national intangible cultural heritage projects, including Fuzhou Shoushan Stone Carving, Putian Wood Carving, Xianyou Redwood Furniture, Dehua Ceramics, and Hui'an Stone Carving. Are all the leaves here carved from wood? "Before Zheng Chunhui, a representative inheritor of the national intangible cultural heritage of Putian wood carving, created his work" Dreams in the Stream ", several viewers were amazed. Zheng Chunhui drew inspiration from the composition of Chinese landscape painting and incorporated cultural elements such as classical Chinese poetry into his woodcarving creation. Under his delicate carving, the wood also possesses the charm of mountains, rivers, and countryside. The work of Lin Dong, the inheritor of Shoushan Stone Carving Techniques, a intangible cultural heritage in Fujian Province, titled 'Sun Wukong Passing Over Flaming Mountain', also attracted audiences to stop. The work cleverly utilizes the natural colors of stone, with the white top carved as Sun Wukong holding a banana fan, and the remaining red stone carved into rolling flames, giving traditional themed works a sense of humor that is appropriate. The exhibition of Lin Dong's work "Sun Wukong Passing over Flame Mountain" aims to showcase the vibrant and prosperous scene of a hundred flowers blooming in the arts and crafts industry in Fujian, showcasing the cultural confidence of the Fujian arts and crafts industry in "continuing the historical context and composing contemporary chapters". The exhibition will be held until November 21. Reporter: Wang Guang, Yan An, Xu Dong (Xinhua News Agency)
