The First Hong Kong Laurel Forum Holds a Joint Talk on Creating New Opportunities for Science and Technology

The first Hong Kong Laurel Forum opened in Hong Kong on the 13th, with over 20 Shaw Award winners and over 200 young scientists in the fields of astronomy, life sciences and medicine, and mathematical sciences exchanging and interacting, sharing research achievements and insights. At the opening ceremony, the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Li Jiachao, delivered a speech stating that Hong Kong has a unique advantage of relying on the motherland and connecting with the world under the principle of "one country, two systems". The Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area brings together the advantages of research and development, advanced manufacturing, and commercial trade, which will bring huge opportunities for the development of Chuangke. Hong Kong will change its industrial structure, and innovation will become a key driving force for the economy. We believe that it will establish a sustainable science and innovation ecosystem for the next generation. The SAR government is confident in promoting the Hong Kong innovation ecosystem and bringing strong growth momentum to the industry. The Chairman of the Hong Kong Laurel Forum Committee, Tang Weizhang, stated that the theme of this forum is "Gathering Top Thinking to Inspire Scientific Achievements", which lasts for 6 days and includes activities such as keynote speeches, seminars, and group discussions. At the same time, some Shaw Award winners will communicate with Hong Kong high school students to help them understand Hong Kong's achievements in innovative technology development and enhance their interest in science. The forum will also hold two scientific seminars hosted by Shaw Award winners at the Hong Kong Museum of Science and the Hong Kong Space Museum, where citizens can participate for free. The Hong Kong Laurel Forum is committed to creating a world-class academic exchange event that connects contemporary and new generation research leaders. It will arrange for young scientists from all over the world to participate in academic seminars, dialogues, and workshops, promote mutual communication among scientists, and enhance the understanding and interest of Hong Kong's younger generation in different scientific and technological fields.
