On October 26th, the final of the 2nd National Postdoctoral Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, jointly hosted by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security and the People's Government of Shandong Province, opened in Yantai, Shandong Province. The National Postdoctoral Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition is the largest, highest level, and most extensive national postdoctoral competition held since the implementation of the postdoctoral system. In 2021, the first National Postdoctoral Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition was held in Foshan, Guangdong. Xu Qiyun, Ph.D. and Associate Researcher at the Institute of Zoology, Guangdong Academy of Sciences, has brought a project on the industrialization and recycling technology of orange peel and citrus waste. In response to the problem of a large amount of orange peel and citrus pulp being discarded during industrial development, scientific treatment and recycling of the pulp have been carried out to reduce environmental pollution and resource waste. Xu Qiyun introduced the project's technical solutions, core competitiveness, research methods, and technical routes on site, which aroused the interest of the participating enterprises. After the competition, the Xu Qiyun project team successfully signed a contract with the listed enterprise Guangdong Lingnan Health Ecological Technology Group Co., Ltd. The chairman of the company, Chen Jianrong, said that by participating in the competition, there is an opportunity to communicate with scientific researchers from all over the country. This not only allows enterprises to more accurately and efficiently connect scientific research talents and solutions, but also greatly inspires the development of enterprises, especially in terms of research and achievements layout. The construction of postdoctoral talents in Guangdong has always been at the forefront of the country. According to the relevant person in charge of the Provincial Department of Human Resources and Social Security, there are currently 1301 postdoctoral research platforms and 1266 doctoral workstations in the province.
