The Eighth Academy of China Aerospace Science and Technology Group has jointly developed 200 Long March series launch vehicles

2023-10-25

On the early morning of October 24th, China successfully launched the Remote Sensing 39 satellite using the Long March 2nd Ding carrier rocket at the Xichang Satellite Launch Center. The satellite successfully entered its intended orbit and the launch mission was a complete success. The Remote Sensing 39 satellite was jointly developed by the Fifth and Eighth Research Institutes of China Aerospace Science and Technology Group Co., Ltd. The Long March 2 D carrier rocket for this mission is a room temperature liquid two-stage carrier rocket developed by the Eighth Institute of China Aerospace Science and Technology Group Co., Ltd. It has the characteristics of high reliability, good economy, and strong adaptability, and can support various launch needs such as single satellite, multi satellite parallel, series, and payload. Its solar synchronous circular orbit carrying capacity can reach 1.3 tons (with an orbital height of 700 kilometers). This launch mission is the 492nd launch of China's Long March series carrier rocket, and also the 200th launch of the Long March series carrier rocket developed by the Eighth Institute of China Aerospace Science and Technology Group Co., Ltd. Since the successful maiden flight of the Long March 4A rocket for 35 years, the Long March rocket developed by the Eighth Research Institute has kept pace with the times, innovated and accelerated development, achieving the first 100 rounds in 30 years and the second 100 rounds in 5 years. In the journey of chasing dreams in the sky, Long March 4, Long March 2-d, Long March 6, and Long March 6-A rockets rose in response to the situation. The Long March 2-D carrier rocket is an improved design based on the Long March 4-A rocket. Its development fully inherits the successful experience of the Long March 4-A rocket, and has reached the world's advanced level through miniaturization, modular equipment, and large-scale integrated circuit applications. Since its first flight in 1992, the Long March 2 D carrier rocket has launched 83 times, successfully launching multiple satellites such as the "Wukong" dark matter particle detection satellite, and launching space experimental exploration projects in multiple fields in China; In 2022, it achieved 15 victories in 15 battles at the three major launch centers of Jiuquan, Taiyuan, and Xichang, setting a new record for the annual launch of a single carrier rocket model in China; On June 15, 2023, 41 satellites including Jilin No.1 High Resolution 06A were successfully sent into their predetermined orbits, setting a new record for China's single rocket multi satellite launch.
