At the third Jiageng Forum held from October 21st to 22nd, Mr. Chen Liren, the eldest grandson of Chen Jiageng, expressed his feelings for his hometown through a video. Yu Hongjun, former Vice Minister of the Central Committee and Vice President of the Chinese People's Association for Peace and Disarmament, Hu Zhanfan, former Editor in Chief of Guangming Daily, former Director of CCTV, and former Vice Chairman of the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles, respectively delivered speeches at the main forum. Since 2014, Xiamen has designated October as the "Jiageng Spirit Promotion Month" and held a series of activities to promote the continuous inheritance of the Jiageng spirit in the new era. Jimei currently has over 110000 overseas Chinese and overseas Chinese, over 2000 returned overseas Chinese, over 20000 overseas Chinese family members, and over 100000 global Jimei alumni. "Hu Xubin, Secretary of the Jimei District Committee of Xiamen City, stated that for a long time, inspired by the spirit of the Jia Geng, overseas Chinese and their families have made significant contributions to the development of their motherland, hometown, and country of residence.
