Chinese and foreign scholars focus on the protection and inheritance of China's three major epics

The International Forum on the Creative Transformation and Innovative Development of China's Three Epics, organized by the Institute of Ethnic Literature of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, was recently held in Beijing. Fifty scholars and experts from China, Hungary, Russia, Mongolia, Kyrgyzstan, and South Korea attended the forum to exchange and share ideas on the protection and inheritance of China's three major epics. The three major epics of China refer to the "Gesa" of the Tibetan and Mongolian ethnic groups, the "Manas" of the Kirgiz ethnic group, and the "Jianger" of the Mongolian ethnic group. At the same time, they are also an epic shared by multiple countries on the Eurasian continent. This seminar is divided into three sub forums: "Gesar", "Manas", and "Jianger". The topics covered include the three major epics and the community with a shared future for mankind, interdisciplinary research on epics, multimedia transformation, oral poetics, epics and intangible cultural heritage, historical materials, archives, edition studies, and database construction of epics. The aim is to showcase the achievements and stories of Chinese epic research over the past 10 years to the international community, Promote international cooperation in the academic inheritance, protection, and research of the three major epics, promote the in-depth development of international research on the three major epics, systematically explore the text, dissemination, protection, inheritance, and innovation of the three major epics, and demonstrate the value and significance of epics in contemporary Chinese cultural construction and world cultural exchange. The organizer stated that the creative transformation and innovative development of China's three major epics is a long-term task that requires fully sorting out existing achievements, attracting relevant forces, and developing and transforming these excellent traditional cultures.
