The "Third Hong Kong International Talent Summit Forum", organized by the Hong Kong Elite and Professional Association, was held on the 9th at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center to jointly explore important topics such as international talent competition and talent linkage in the Bay Area. The Financial Secretary of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, Chen Maobo, stated at the launch ceremony that the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government will launch a series of measures to attract talents from outside the region by the end of 2022. As of September this year, Hong Kong has received approximately 160000 applications for various talent import programs, of which over 100000 have been approved. The theme of this forum is "Linking Global Talents, Jointly Building High Quality Bay Area, and Serving National Development", and the main forum will discuss topics related to "International, National, and Bay Area Talents". At the same time, the organizers have set up sub forums at multiple venues of the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center, focusing on topics such as IT, law, and technology for special discussions, to comprehensively and from multiple perspectives explore various talent issues of concern to the political, business, academic, and industrial sectors. Chen Maobo said that Hong Kong has a unique advantage of relying on the motherland and connecting the world under the "one country, two systems" policy. It is the best springboard for mainland innovative enterprises to enter the international market and the best platform for overseas enterprises to explore the mainland and Asian markets. In terms of "talent competition", approximately 60000 visa approved talents have arrived in Hong Kong, surpassing the goal of importing at least 35000 talents annually. Hong Kong is willing to work hand in hand with its sister cities in the Greater Bay Area to strengthen collaborative cooperation in talent development and contribute to the development of the Bay Area and the country. The Secretary for Labour and Welfare of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, Sun Yuhan, introduced at the event that after the launch of the "Gaocai Tong Plan", it serves as a major engine to promote the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government's "talent grabbing" work. As of the end of September this year, a total of approximately 160000 applications have been received for various talent input programs, of which about one-third are for the "High Talent Program". He said that the successful hosting of the summit forum confirms Hong Kong's tremendous achievements in attracting and "grabbing talent". Zhang Jiabing, Director of the Organization Department of the Nansha District Committee of Guangzhou City, stated that Hong Kong and Nansha are epitomes of talent innovation and development in the Greater Bay Area. Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao are geographically similar, have close social connections, and share the same cultural heritage. Looking forward to the coordinated development with the cities in the Greater Bay Area, jointly building the International Science and Technology Innovation Center in the Greater Bay Area, and doing a good job in industrial integration and development, so that various talents can showcase their skills and achieve exciting results in the integrated development of the Greater Bay Area. The Chairman of the Hong Kong Talent and Professional Association, Luo Yong, said that as the forum enters its third year, it will continue to strive to implement the association's objectives, actively provide advice and suggestions to the SAR government, and focus on measures related to talent gathering, employment, and retention, so that talents can be attracted, affordable, well used, and retained. Actively promote cross-border exchange and cooperation between domestic and foreign talents, attract and retain more outstanding talents from both domestic and foreign sources, and provide talent and intellectual support for the development of the Greater Bay Area and the country. The Hong Kong Elite and Professional Association was established in 2013 as a government registered public welfare organization to actively promote the integration of new professionals from various industries into Hong Kong, take root in the Bay Area, serve the country, and face the world.
