On the morning of September 26th, the 2023 Weifang International Kite Carnival opened grandly at the Binhai International Kite Flying Ground. Wang Guiying, Vice Governor of Shandong Province, announced the opening of the carnival. In his speech, the Vice President of the International Kite Federation, Berger Hans, stated that Weifang is the birthplace of kites, a center for the exchange and dissemination of world kite culture, an industrial center, and the headquarters of the International Kite Federation. Wang Lei, Secretary of the Party Group and Director of the Shandong Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, stated that the International Kite Carnival held in Weifang is an innovative measure to create a "Confucian style connected to Haidai better in Weifang" urban cultural and tourism brand. He hopes that Weifang will build Weifang kites into a more influential, driven, and competitive cultural brand.
