2023-09-14

On the 13th, the Hong Kong Tourism Development Council announced data that over 20 million tourists visited Hong Kong in the first eight months of this year, including over 16 million mainland tourists. Data shows that driven by the peak summer tourism season, approximately 4.1 million tourists visited Hong Kong in early August, an increase of about 14% on a monthly basis, equivalent to the average of about 84% before the epidemic. In August, over 3.43 million visitors to Hong Kong were from mainland China. The Hong Kong Tourism Development Board stated that the tourism industry in Hong Kong is steadily and orderly recovering, but the pace of recovery will be influenced by different factors such as currency exchange rate, aviation capacity, and global economy. The Tourism Development Bureau will fully organize a series of large-scale events in the coming months to create a lively and festive atmosphere throughout the city, attracting tourists and citizens to participate.
